The Preparatory Office for APEC 2005 is launching the “APEC International Essay Contest” as part of preparing the 13th APEC Leaders’ Meeting to be held in Busan, Korea on Nov. 18-19, 2005.
Since 1989, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has become the main organization for promoting economic growth and prosperity of the region and strengthening mutual ties among member economies in Trade and Investment Liberalization and Facilitation (TILF), Economic and Technical Cooperation (ECOTECH), Human Security and so on. The year 2005 is a vital year for APEC to stock-take its progress toward the Bogor Goals and identify a roadmap.
APEC International Essay Contest would be an excellent opportunity for all APEC economies to enhance APEC awareness and gather fresh ideas on the future of APEC. Everyone from APEC member economies is encouraged to participate in the “APEC International Essay Contest.”
▶ Subject: Free subject relating to APEC, such as, Future of APEC, Open-regionalism, Trade and Investment Liberalization and Facilitation, etc.
▶ Length: Approximately 10 pages.

▶ Language: English.

Full paper by September 23, 2005
* Participants’ name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address must be included in the cover letter.
▶ Winners will be noticed via email by the end of October.
▶ Awards: First Prize (1 person) – USD 1,500
Second Prize (2 persons) – USD 1,000
Third Prize (2 persons) – USD 500
* Two winners will be invited to Korea. (Airfare and accommodation expenses will be covered)
