2008 APEC e-Learning Training Program was started in APEC e-Learning Training Center, Busan with its 10th round from May 20 to 29. The participating trainees from 6 economies: Brunei, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia (Republic of Sakha) and Thailand are all recommended by the Ministry of Education in each economy as next generation leaders in e-HRD.
These 22 selected trainees explored the recent theories on e-Learning from lectures, carried out collaborative studies based on PBL under the guidance of experts, and had cultural experiences. In particular, they went through field experiences in the exemplary educational government-level institutions in Busan and Seoul as well.
One Malaysian Trainee said " Collaborative study really provided us with a way of thinking, a tool to use to solve problems, an attitude to collaborate with people of all walks. And lectures and field training can not be separated, lectures provided theories and insights, while field training let us experienced real and realistic situation which all theories are based on." Other trainees also expressed that they could have experienced how e-Learning program is implemented in Korea and would like to introduce and use what they have learned in the Training Program in their education system.
After the successful implementation of the 10th round of APEC e-Learning training program, the 11th round and the 3rd round of Advance course program (long term) are planed to be held from July 22 to 31 (10 days) and July 22 to August 18 (4 weeks) respectively.
Especially, through the differentiated Advanced course program over a long-term period targeting only policy-making level officials, it is expected that they will carry out more in-depth individual projects with expert mentors and strengthen human network-building through visiting more qualified organizations at the policy-making level on e-Learning.
